Grampa’s Guide to Getting Going in Gyms is an e-book based on introductory fitness classes I worked up for a local gym and my dozen or so years of personal experience. It’s intended for anyone who isn’t sure why to go to a gym, what to do there, and why it matters. It outlines some fundamental principles of exercise. It also covers thought processes I apply to pesky questions like “How do I figure out what to do with my time?”, “How do I integrate pursuing my physical health into the rest of my life?” and even “How do I tell good workout plans apart from fads and misinformation?”

It explains basics while deliberately not telling you what to do. It’s meant to help you match general guidelines to your own situation, then take your first steps.

In a perfect world, you’ll find it gives you the basic information and skills you can apply to your own life, and maybe benefit from ‘exercise and fitness’ as much as I have.
