Snow White Fruit

Descriptive Text: One of the first people I knew who did a major diet ‘cut’ for his health gave me his advice, which amounted to ‘eat lots of vegetables, but NO FRUIT EVER’. I’m glad it worked for him, and I understand that things like “high fructose corn syrup” being dumped in everything have muddied the waters about what’s safe or not. To say nothing of those of us who really do struggle with blood sugar levels.

But do consider that many human beings lived on omnivorous diets for millennia, and that even the increase in average life span over the last couple of centuries has at least as much to do with fewer infants and children dying of disease than because the maximum age has gone up a lot … certainly not because most elders have avoided fruit their entire lives.

If you’re actually Snow White, girl, watch out for them apples. But fruit in general? Not actually “poison” unless it’s from a poisonous species, or if you have a specific condition that makes it so. Otherwise, hey: eat that tomato. And have my orange: I don’t like them a lot. But I’ll take the blueberries if you’re not into them.

Video Captions: I'm always impressed by the number of people in the fitness industry who think they can fear-monger their way into success. You've got people out there right now talking about how fruit is dangerous for you. And not because it gets sprayed with chemicals. They're just saying fruit itself is bad.
